Temporary Disaster Exemption Calculator

In an area declared a disaster area by the Governor, Tax Code Section 11.35 allows a qualified property that is at least 15% damaged by a disaster to receive a temporary exemption of a portion of the appraised value of the property.
Real Property (ex. residential, commercial, land, etc.)
Business Personal Property (ex. equipment, inventory, etc.)
  • Cost to repair must be at least 15% of the structure’s value
  • Must submit supporting documentation in the form of receipts, formal cost estimates, insurance claims, etc.
